Spotted in RMW | Getting to know Kasia Stanicich

Makeup artist, creative and all round social millennial, Kasia Stanicich is someone we needed to catch-up with!

We love Kasia's approach to fashion and her effortless, neutral style. After investing in a pair of the R.M. Williams Millicent boot, Kasia was after a brown pair to add to her collection. She recently visited us in our Christchurch store to try on our range and find the perfect style and fit with the help of our team. Check out her Instagram @kasiaastanicich for endless styling & beauty tips.

Tell us a bit about yourself and what a typical day in your life is like.

I work a balance of 3 jobs in completely different fields, alongside whatever passion project is currently on the go, so no day is the same! I typically get any work for my admin role (or my own personal admin) out of the way in the morning, leave the afternoons for creative content work and my weekends are jam packed with makeup. I've been a bridal and special occasion Makeup Artist for 7 years now, and absolutely love every second of it!

What are your best tips for managing time?

I'm a stickler for routine, but am getting better at understanding that there is plenty outside of my control (2020 was a pivotal year for realising that...) and so I do my best to plan ahead, but allow myself the flexibility and patience when things simply don't work. I spend a good chunk of my Sunday organising my week ahead, all the way down to dinners working in sync with my schedule - and rely heavily on Outlook Tasks, Google Calendar and my Reminders app for the rest!

What was the best piece of business advice you've received?

It's not who you know, it's how you treat them.

    -
If you were magically given 3 more hours per day, what would you do with them?

A daily Reformer Pilates class, take up a new hobby (maybe something artsy to fuel the creative side of my brain!) and split the last 60 minutes evenly between sleep and one of those evening 'resets' that uber-organised people do.

How would you describe your personal style?

    Neutral, elevated basics, comfortable.

    -
What was your first pair of RM Williams?

My darling black Millicients! They were a huge investment I thought years about, which is a true testament to their classic style and the fact I have and will love them for years.

How do you style your Mayas?

I am currently in a love affair with cream and white colourways, so I love having the Mayas in my wardrobe as a softer winter boot. They work perfectly with most of my wardrobe - which is totally the point of having a curated capsule. But I love them with a midi dress.

What have you been watching/reading/listening to lately?

Watching Stranger Things, Listening to The Teacher's Trial podcast, reading too much into the wicked nightmares I'm having as a result of watching and listening to said recommendations haha! They're amazing pieces of entertainment, but I swear everything and everyone is out to get me right now! Admittedly, I am balancing it out with a healthy dose of The Karsdashians each Friday. The best.

A classic piece I never tire of is:

A trench coat! Honestly my entire personality is more confident when I'm in a beautiful trench.

The best gift I ever received was:

For my 18th birthday my darling Dad and brother (builder+joiner between them!) helped create the bulk of my makeup studio, which is still my absolute favourite place to be and I am so fortunate to have such a special place to welcome clients into!

    My guilty pleasure is:

    TikTok...

    Heels or flats?

Flats - but something with a solid sole or an elevated heel. Nothing worse than a flimsy sole.
